Frequently Asked Questions

  • You do not need a referral. You can call or email and we will book you in for the next available appointment. It is however worthwhile discussing your feeding concerns with your child’s GP or Paediatrician.

  • Private Health Insurance – If you have private health insurance and are covered for Speech Pathology you may be able to claim a portion of your payment. The rebate varies depending on the health fund.

    Medicare – In order to claim a rebate from Medicare, you need a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan). This is completed by your GP and allows you to claim $52.95 for up to five speech pathology sessions. You will need to discuss with the GP if your child is eligible for this plan.

  • Yes, we do. We see self and plan managed NDIS clients. We are unfortunately unable to see NDIA managed clients.  To use NDIS funds to pay for your child’s feeding assessment, please ensure you have funds available and allocated.

  • You will be able to pay for your Telehealth session via credit card within the session (via a secure credit card facility). Payment is required on the day of service as per our usual terms. We will email you a copy of the paid invoice once payment is received. For any payment queries, you can talk to our  reception team .

  • Most definitely! We focus on coaching you in developing skills that you can then apply to support your child in a number of environments.

  • Certainly! We know its hard to fit it all in and we welcome all siblings. Please bring along any preferred toys/comfort items that will keep them entertained during the session.

  • During the assessment, your therapist will discuss some feeding strategies to start at home, these will be written down for you during the appointment or emailed within a week. You will then be offered a follow up appointment to review the feeding strategies. For most families, we provide parent coaching sessions (child does not need to be present) as well as clinic based sessions.

  • Yes, we are able to provide services in the community setting (travel fees apply). If school to home based intervention is something you’re interested in, please bring it up with us and we can determine whether this is suitable/possible for your child and their specific needs.

  • Our intervention is about guiding you to make changes at home to support the feeding development of your child. This usually means that review sessions are required to enable positive change and carryover of progress to the home environment. The number of reviews required will be unique to your specific child/family. We strongly advocate for functional goals and work closely with you to achieve these desired outcomes efficiently.
